Welcome to the Cotton Mill Village!

Location, location, location...

Edenton, North Carolina is located on the western end of Albermerle Sound where the Chowan River joins the sound. The first capital of colonial North Carolina, the town retains its unique historical character which attracts people from around the country seeking a quiet, even pace of life. It is often called the prettiest town in the south!

Edenton offers historic, cultural and recreational opportunities that please a wide spectrum of residents from young families to retirees. Over the years this attraction has created a robust real estate market. Edenton is often listed as among the top ten retirement locations in the country.

Edenton is often called North Carolina's Inner Banks, because of its close proximity to North Carolina's Outer Banks, such as Hatteras Island, Kitty Hawk, Manteo & Roanoke Island. In addition, for expanded cultural and shopping activities, Virgina's Hampton Roads communities, including Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Portsmouth are a one hour drive and Raleigh/Durham less than two hours away.

The Cotton Mill Village is on the National Historic Register, within walking distance of downtown historic Edenton, the harbor on Albemarle Sound, library, dining and shopping. The cotton mill, built in 1895, was the center of the Cotton Mill Village, which was built to house its workers. After the mill closed in 1995, Preservation North Carolina managed the conversion of the mill site into private homes and luxury condominiums.

Over the short time since the conversion from working cotton mill to an upscale residential area, investments in Edenton's Cotton Mill Village have proven quite rewarding...
